ATU & Septic Solutions for Perth: Residential & Commercial Use
Aerobic Treatment Units (ATU), Secondary Treatment Systems (STS), & Aerated Wastewater Treatment Systems (AWTS) in Perth
In non-sewered areas, traditional septic tanks were once the norm. However, as many councils in WA now mandate stricter effluent discharge quality, installing a Secondary Treatment System (STS) or an Aerobic Treatment Unit (ATU) has become essential. In various parts of Australia, these systems are referred to as Aerated Wastewater Treatment Systems (AWTS).
STS/ATU solutions are available for both residential and commercial properties. These whole-house systems efficiently treat all wastewater to a secondary standard, enabling the treated discharge water to be used for garden irrigation, promoting sustainability and water conservation.
Key Features:
Advanced Treatment: High-efficiency ATU and STS systems for superior wastewater treatment.
Compliance: Meets stringent local council regulations for effluent discharge.
Eco-Friendly: Recycled water suitable for garden irrigation.
Versatile Applications: Ideal for both residential and commercial uses.

A septic tank is a sealed chamber, usually constructed from concrete or plastic, designed for initial wastewater treatment. Wastewater from your entire home flows into the tank, where it undergoes a basic treatment process. This involves settling and anaerobic digestion, which helps reduce solids and organic materials, though the treatment level is moderate. The system typically includes two chambers: the first captures larger solids, while the second allows for further settling of suspended particles before the treated water is distributed into the leach field. This process ensures that only partially treated water is released, making it a foundational step in wastewater management.
Water Installations are WA's authorised Service and Biolytix Rebuild agents for the Biolytix BF6 Systems.
There is a legal requirement to have these systems serviced regularly and to have a written service agreement with an authorised service provider, should you wish to get your Biolytix system serviced.
We recommend servicing every three to six months so that we can keep a better eye on the system to maintain optimum function. We have been rebuilding Biolytix for a couple of years now, with great success.
Efficient Greywater Reuse Systems for Garden Irrigation
At Water Installations, we specialise in installing advanced greywater diversion systems. Unlike treatment systems, our greywater reuse systems (GRS) are designed to divert, not treat, greywater. This means they are not suitable for use in flushing toilets.
Our systems are ideal for directing untreated greywater to your garden, where it can be used for watering plants (excluding root vegetables) through subsurface irrigation or under lawns. The greywater is dispersed via a covered mulch system to ensure effective use without direct contact.
For efficient and environmentally friendly greywater solutions, trust Water Installations to provide systems that enhance your garden while conserving water. More on Greywater here >
